How To Play Barkin’ Mad Mobile Slot
You’d have to be Barkin Mad to play on this slot game. No, but really. Here’s why.
The Barkin’ Mad mobile slot was probably the first of the ‘big bet’ Barcrest games to come out and it shows.
The big bet feature, which you might have encountered in the decent Ooh Aah Dracula slot, or the even better Monopoly Big Event slot, basically unlocks better returns and bonus games for betting bigger.
And whilst it works for the two above, it doesn’t work as well with the Barkin Mad slot.
Not a particular pretty theme
Personally, we found this four legged friend to be less than friendly looking, with bug eyes and 3D graphics reminiscent of a 1990’s video game.
Cartoony, but without the charm of being cute, these dogs are nothing to bark about.
Add a fairly boring 10 to Ace symbols, and symbols that seem to spin individually of each other, and we weren’t impressed.
That said, it worked great both as an Android or iPhone / iPad slot. So there’s that.
Without the big bet this slot game is pretty boring
If you decide to bet whatever you want, you’ll have a fairly standard 10 payline slot machine, with wilds and scatters that trigger 10 free spins.
However, the big bet options make things far more interesting. Here you’ll be able to bet $20 for $30 for 5 spins (but in your own currency, we are using $ for convenience).
That means you are betting $2 or $3 a line – which is, needless to say, a little higher than many of us are happy to gamble. And if you want to be all the way to the maximum of 400 a spin, then forget it too. You won’t get the bonus features unless you bet at the set $2 or $3 a spin.
The reason you do this is simple; it can make wilds in the base game stay sticky for one round, and it gives you access to the showtime bonus feature.
Is the Showtime bonus feature worth it?
Here, a wheel of fortune will spin giving you either multipliers on the win that trigger this bonus, or ask you to exchange said win for a free spins bonus.
Usually, 9 times out of 10, it’s better to exchange for free spins, as this is where the big wins are. All wilds stay sticky during the whole bonus feature, which can at least improve your odds of winning a screen full of 5 of a kind symbols.
The returns are worth the risk
If you are use to betting 2 or 3 a line, then by all means, this Barkin Mad slot machine can be rewarding, in an easy playing kind of way.
But if you are not, it’s too easy to give in to temptation and allow this mobile slot to burry all your cash somewhere in the garden, never to be found again.
At least with the Monopoly Big Event, the return to player rate when you bet big increases to 99%, making it almost guaranteed that you’ll win something.
Here it merely jumps from 94% if you play normally, to 96% if you use the big bet option. Games like the Lucky Leprechaun slot machine and rhe Jack Hammer slot have a 97% hit rate as standard.
If you are going to force us to bet at one level only, at least make sure you make it worth our while.

Barkin’ Mad Bonus Features
Wilds: The cloud with 'wild' written on it is the wild symbol and replaces all other symbols except scatter in the normal game.
Scatters and Free Spins: Get three Barkin' Mad mobile slot logos anywhere on screen and you'll trigger 10 free spins. Four will give you 12, and five will give you 15 free spins.
No multipliers, but any wild symbols that shows up during the round then remain locked in place for the remainder of the Barkin Mad free spins bonus.
Wild Dog Multiplier Bonus: Following any losing spin, you can sometimes get a dog walk across the screen and turn one of the symbols on screen into a wild with a multiplier. Usually about 2x or 3x, higher if you are using the big bet option.
Big Bet and Showtime Feature: At any point you can choose to play a bet of paying $20 or $30 for 5 spins.
The return to player rater for $20 is 95% and for $30 is 96%.
This makes it so that if the wild dog multiplier shows up, the multipliers are a little bigger.
Plus, the wilds can remain sticky on screen, and you'll far more easily trigger the free spin games.
Except the free spins, in this occasion, show up as the 'Showtime' feature. So instead of getting your 10 free spins, you'll go to a wheel of fortune where you can win either:
- x1 to x5 multipliers on the win that got you into the free spin bonus.
- 10, 12, or 14 free spins.
The same rule applies with the free spins and sticky wild as written above. It's just a little bit easier to get more free spins, and to trigger them.
