An ok theme, with ok gameplay and ok wins
Unfortunately the theme is a little dull, with lots of browns and generic Nepalese imagery sitting next to high card symbols. And the sounds are nothing to shout about. Imagine if India and China had a slot child and you’ll come close to what they are trying to do with this theme. It’s exotic in a very familiar way.
Don’t get us wrong, we enjoyed playing on the Kathmandu slot machine. But just as with the theme, you’ll recognise the gameplay quickly as you play through 9 paylines and 5 reels and get small wins often. Sure the max jackpot is 150,000… if you manage to get 5 wilds on all the reels with a 5 times multiplier.
Realistically Kathmandu video slot is more for beginners of the game who want a little bit of everything, but without major risk. Mostly this is because most of the big wins were only about 10x to 20x your bet. More is possible, but this game is all about getting you playing for as long as possible and helping your budget stretch.
Personally we think the more volatile Summertime mobile slot, which came out at the same time, is a lot more fun, even if it, like this one, is nothing new to the Microgaming portfolio.

Kathmandu Bonus Features
Wilds: The prayer wheel (at least we think it is? Our Buddhist ritual tool knowledge isn't what it use to be...) is the wild symbol and replaces all other symbols except scatters.

Obviously that last one is the one you want to get, but strangely enough, most of the time you get the x5 multiplier showing, the reels come up empty. Most of your wins will end up with a x2 or x3 multiplier - which is still decent.
