How To Play King Kong Mobile Slot
This Playtech King Kong slot machine looks like the movie and feels like the movie. That’s not always a good thing.
We should mentioned that technically the full name of this Playtech slot is ‘Kong: The 8th Wonder of the World’ to go with the 2005 movie that few remember.
The game, we are happy to say, is far better than the movie overall. It keeps the beautiful cinematic feel and even if you’ve never seen the original film, you kinda recognise the characters of the dazzling screaming blonde, the dashing hero, the sassy sub-character and the broken captain.
Oh, and that giant gorilla.
Split personality disorder
Everyone who has seen the film can testify that you’ll usually have a favourite part; when they are on the island, with Kong fighting the T-Rex or in the city when Kong climbs the empire state building.
Then there’s all the slow action in the middle making the film far too long.
This is an apt comparison as King Kong slot game takes you to both the city and the island and has long lull periods. You start in the island, which when you get a click me bonus game (with wins barely 10x your bet) you’ll then go on completely different five reels and you’ll be in the city. Again, if you get the bonus symbols, you’ll get another click me bonus (with similar winnings) which will take you back to the island.
All visually stunning, but so far, no wins of any real note.
Also frustrating. Chances are, you’ll be spending most of the time wishing you were on your favourite set of reels and feeling like you are wasting your time when you’re not.
The different reels in the King Kong video slot
Because of course, if that was all there was to it, this game wouldn’t even get three stars. The reason it is more than playable is that each set of reels (City and Island) get’s its own little free spin bonus.
These are triggered by getting 3 wild Kong slot symbols anywhere on the screen. On both you’ll get 3 free spins afterwards.
That’s all the similarities between the two. On the island, any wild symbol that shows up during the 3 free spins become sticky and stay for the spins. In the city you get expanded wilds, first on reels 1 and 5, then on reels 2 and 4 and then on that last spin, reels 1, 2 and 5 are all filled with wilds.
The city, in our books is where it’s at. It’s where the big sized wins are hiding and where we get the biggest thrill.
Unfortunately we don’t get to spend half as much time in the city as we would like – and no doubt if you love the island free spins, you’ll feel the same way but the other way around.
Which is what makes the King Kong mobile slot hard to truly love. Your heart belongs to a doomed creature that, in a quick minute, might disappear in a minor click me game. But those few minutes spent on this slots five reels you love can sometimes be all the joy you need when you have but a short time to spare.

King Kong Bonus Features
Wilds: Mr King Kong himself is the wild symbol replacing all other symbols except scatter. It also triggers the free spins, but more on that below.
Scatters & Click Me Feature: Three Kong logo scatters trigger the click me features which swap the game from Island Mode to City Mode and back again.
When triggered during the Skull Island reels you'll pick from random locations on the this little slice of prehistoric paradise and reveal different dinosaurs for cash prizes. Once you've revealed three of the same, the bonus game ends, you get your prize, and you head to the City reels.
When triggered in the city you'll get King Kong battling out with several aeroplanes at the top of the Empire State building and you'll have to pick which of the three you'll want to swat out of the sky. After three turns you'll get your cash prize and go back to the island to start all over again.
3 Free Spins with Wilds: When you get three Kong symbols, whether in City Mode or Skull Island Mode, you'll trigger three free spins. This feature is hard to get, but the most worthwhile of the game.
Wild Jungle free spins: This is what happens when on Island mode. Any time a wild symbol shows up on screen it's frozen in place, staying on that spot until all three free spins are played through. You can get as few of two or three, giving you nothing much, or a whole screen full of wilds. Mostly expect about 20x your bet on this one.
Wild Kong free spins: This is what happens when on City mode. In the first of the three spins you'll get reels 1 and 5 completely wild. On the second spin reels 2 and 4 are equally covered and then on the third spins, reels 1, 3 and 5 are expanded wilds, almost guaranteeing you a few decent five of a kinds.
We fell in love with this feature as you can get decent amounts here. It's just such a shame it's so freaking hard to catch.
