We were all excited about Spartania mobile slot. The first of the brand new releases from new mobile software game provider Sheriff Gaming we thought… this one is going to be it. This is going to be the one that blows our socks off in mobile.
Imagine our disappointment when we found that this beautiful looking slot was… OK. As we mentioned, the graphics are fantastic. The theme is a lot of fun, taming the hardcore Spartan warriors with cute tigers and cartoony elephants, and adding a Roman Caesar to mix the cultures. That’s ok, we will allow that. Sparta/Rome… around the same era right? And we are playing slots, not being historically picky.
But why just ‘OK’? Because the original slot game relied heavily on the ‘video’ aspect of the mechanics. When you won, elephants roared, warriors jumped out of the screen and Caesar clapped his hands in happiness. Without these little details to distract you from the fact this mobile slot doesn’t hit very often you can’t help but notice that… well… the features and wins do not hit often. Worse, when they do, they don’t necessarily hit big. We played a good 250 spins before we hit any of the big bonus features, and when we did, it lacked the punch we were expecting from such a lovely looking slot.
That said, this is probably due to the fact that the main big features (the random multiplier on every win and the expanding wilds) are giving such little crescendo when hit, you forget these are special features and assume it’s a normal win as usual. A little more drama and some strong sounds would have gone a long way to making this game more exciting. The lack of free spins probably doesn’t help their cause in terms of player enjoyment either.
As it stands, if you were a fan of the original online 3D game or enjoy a few simple spins, there are worse mobile slots out there to play on the go.

Spartania Bonus Features
Random Multiplier: One of the nicest features of this game, every spin has a random multiplier, potentially giving you x1, x2, x3, x4 or x5 your next win. A great feature that needs to have been given more attention by the game provider.
Expanding Wild Reel: The Wild Shield and sword replace every symbol on the board, except the scatter symbol. It also randomly expands, with no warning or fanfare. Blink and you'll miss it.
Wheel of Fortune: On the left hand side of the screen you'll notice that one of the reels is highlighted. If the 'wheel of fortune' symbol lands on this special icon, you get to 'spin' a wheel and get high multipliers of up to 250x your last win.
Double Up: A simple pick 'red' or 'black' double up game, it certainly can lift the game during the long periods of inactivity.
Pick the Coins: A hard to hit, click and pick game, simply keep choosing coins until you find a 'collect' coin.
