Except when they are not. Because this is a high variance slot game, so whilst a lot is happening on these reels that split, and nudge, and transform, but there’s not a whole load of movement in your bank account.
Much like the Bonanza slot, the main wins are all in one of two free spins bonus features where all reels are unlocked, and you get the full blast of a shotgun straight to your chest.

True Grit Redemption Bonus Features
Wild: The wild symbol substitutes for all other symbols except scatter and Grit Girl.
Avalanching Win: On every win, the symbols explode, and more tumble from above. This gives you another chance to catch a win.
Special Top Reel: The three positions in the top reel only holds Character and Wild symbols. If the symbol in the top reel matches a symbol in the main reel straight below it, then both symbols will turn into wilds.
Locked Reel: The right-hand side of the reel is locked. However, a single scatter on the True Grit Redemption slot reels will open up positions progressively. These can come along in more than one avalanching win.
- First scatter: opens up the first 4 positions
- Second scatter: opens up the next 3 positions
- Third scatter: opens up the next 2 positions
- Fourth scatter: opens up the final position and all ways to win
xWays: These can appear anywhere on the reels. Xways will transform into a normal paying symbol, but split into 2-3 symbols of the same kind.
Special Bottom Locked Reel: these open up via the scatters (as above) and hold special characters. The right-most position in the bottom reel always holds a sticky wild with a multiplier. Then other special characters will appear as you unlock the bottom reel including
- Sticky Wild with Multiplier: A wild that stays sticky for the spin with a multiplier if used
- XNudge Wild: A stacked wild that nudges to cover the reel. Each nudge will increase the multiplier by 1. If it nudges over a wild, an extra +1 is added to the wild multiplier. If the XNudge Wild does not produce a win, it will fold back and nudge again for an increased wild multiplier in the following cascade.
- Transform'em: Transform all character symbols into one character symbol or all low-paying symbols (Ace-10) into the same low-paying symbol.
- Reel Split: This will split all symbols above it on the main reel. It then vanishes, causing a bottom reel collapse to the left. It does not split Grit Girl but doubles its payout multiplier.
- Wild: A symbol that can be used by other symbols to create a win.
- Xways: splits into 2-3 symbols as above.
- Infectious xWays: Will reveal a 2 symbol split, but always infect the other of the same symbols on the main reel to expand to the same size.
Grit Girl: These can only land on reels 1-4 on the main reel. She pays like a scatter - 3 will trigger x25 your bet, 4 symbols will trigger x500 your bet. Any wins on the Grit Girl is multiplied by the multiplier on the sticky wild in the bottom reel - whether it's locked or not.
Torture Spins: Landing 3 scatter symbols will trigger 8+ Torture Spins. Any scatter symbols affected by Reel Splits award a +1 spin per extra part of the split symbol. The play area increases and locked positions will open up - all except the sticky multiplier wild in the bottom right corner but comes into play for wins on Grit Girl.
Landing a fourth scatter symbol upgrades the bonus round into Dead Spins adding +2 spins, and +1 spin for each extra split part of the scatter.
