But just because it’s a new NetEnt slot doesn’t mean its going to be any good.
It’s easy to get carried away with the news of brand new casino games, especially when they are based on big movie slot themes.
And none come bigger than the epic 20th Century Fox Planet of the Apes series.
Back in February we predicted we’d get the original 1968 film and boy were we wrong.
Here’s 4 important things you need to know about the new Planet of the Apes slot game, and a little insider sneak peak.
Sneak peak video of the new Planet of the Apes slot
This is not a short video. This is 5 minutes of play footage of the Planet of the Apes game by NetEnt.
If you don’t have time to watch it, we don’t blame you. It’s why we do it instead.
Bet you weren’t expecting that, now were you?
- Gonzo’s Quest
- Starburst
- Mega Fortune Dreams
- Dazzle Me
Even if you didn’t press play, there’s no doubt you’ve seen one clear image of one really big massive slot.
So is NetEnt entering the colossal reels arena?
Are they trying to compete with Williams Interactive slots and be as interesting as the likes of the Spartacus slot machine or the epic Zeus 1,000?
There’s no way to know for sure how this will be received.
So for now, let’s look at the 4 things we know for sure, which will all give us clues as to whether you’ll be playing this come October 2017.
1. It’s two slots in one and the first of it’s kind
Let’s talk about that massive double game.
Unlike what we predicted the Planet of the Apes slot we thought we were getting back at the beginning of the year isn’t the original movie.
In fact, it’s not even Rise of the Planet of the Apes, or Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.
It’s both. They’ve put two of the three Apes trilogy movie that started in 2011 into one massive video slot and called it by the original 1968 movie name.
It’s a little confusing, isn’t it?
Yeap, that it is. If we were real cynics we’d say that Net Entertainment were trying to fast track one slot so they could then create War for the Planet of the Ape in the coming year.
- Jungle Spirit
- Koi Princess
- Emoji Planet
- Twin Spin
- Aloha Cluster Pays
A movie that came out only this summer.
But, cynicism aside, you can’t deny that the look is striking. Not only does it automatically catch your eye, but also your curiosity.
However, on closer inspection you’ll see that instead of one big slot machine, you actually have two slots in one.
NetEnt describe it as “The game features the Rise and Dawn play areas, each with 5-reels, 3-rows, and 20-lines (fixed)”.
So it’s, in fact, a lot less complicated than the first image would have you believe.
2. It has 5 bonus features, but not all will be good
The thing about playing on two slot machines at once is that it usually means that you have to pay more, because you get more.
Interestingly, not in this Planet of the Apes mobile slot.
NetEnt have promised that a single spin will only cost a minimum of 0.20 a spin – or the equivalent of spinning on one machine.
Each of the reels will have their own special bonus game features, but overall, they will pretty much act independently of each other.
The Planet of the Apes confirmed bonus games:
- Stacked wilds which duplicate from one set of reels to another; like in the Kiss slot by WMS.
- In the left hand feature, you can turn all high paying symbols into scatter instant cash wins.
- In the right hand feature, you can turn all high paying symbols into one high paying symbol.
- Dual feature will trigger a special feature where only one symbol will spin on each set of reels (see Play’n Go’s 7 Sins slot for an example of this)
- Rise free spins see you collect wilds for one massive super spin at the end (again, the Thundercats slot Mumm-Ra free spins work much the same way)
- Dawn free spins you collect symbols for extra multipliers, wilds and free spins.
None of these features are unique and, honestly, other than the stacked wilds and the free spins bonus games, we suspect the other bonus features are more distractions than real big hitters.
And whilst nothing is technically unique, together they make for a package we’ve not seen before, and we’ve reviewed almost a thousand slots.

3. You can win up to 600,000 in cash in the free spins
Bet this little fact about the new Planet of the Apes slot game caught your attention straight away.
It certainly popped out for us.
And those of you saying that it’s probably that high cause this new phone slot online will have a high limit bet…
Well, you are partly right. You’ll be able to bet 200 a spin, which is no bad sum.
But even the biggest cynics out there will be slightly impressed when they do the maths and realise that the top win here is still a very decent 3,000 times your bet.
Granted, you can only get that amount in the Dawn of the Planet of the Apes free spin reels but… that still gives us hope that more can be found on this simian game.
4. The Planet of The Apes slot is out 23rd of October
We know this last fact is a bit of a cheat. Technically we told you this information on the very first sentence of this post.
