We don’t usually get very excited about new Rabcat slot games.
Mostly, if we are honest, it’s because they don’t come around very often.
But after the surprising and totally original Castle Builders II slot made it on our reviews to 5 stars, we’ve started to pay attention a little more.
Will the Gnome Wood slot live up to potential?
We know it’s unfair to compare any new slot to the one that just came before.

In fact, some might be wondering why we are making such a fuss over a slot casino software provider who’s managed to make one great game.
After all, none of their other mobile games made it much past 2 stars.
Now who is judging from the past?
One of the problems Rabcat have is that they make very pretty slots that usually lack substance.
Like the Dragons Myth slot, which promises wins of 2,000 times your bet, but you might as well hope to see a real life dragon. Chances are about the same.
Or even the newer Classic 243 game on mobile. Which is really only a slot for beginners who’ve never played on a 243 ways to win slot machine.
Basically, we get there’s a lot of bad history. But we’re hopeful that after Castle Builder II, Rabcat have turned a new page.
Maybe.
3 Reasons Gnome Wood will start a new trend
Let’s not look back at the past. Instead let’s look forward and watch a 2 minute video of all we can expect:
If you can’t watch the video, don’t worry. We’ll talk about the highlights below.
1. This is probably one of the prettiest Rabcat slots
Rabcat know how to do pretty. None of the complaints about any of their other Android and iOS phone slots have been because they lacked imagination.
With a huge selection of some of the best software, Leo Vegas casino will only impress.
Gnome Wood goes one step further and actually creates a magical world that feels like you could almost touch it.
It has to be said, we generally like fairy slots, so we would have been onboard even if this was just set in an enchanted garden.
Instead they’ve created a whole new character, the Gnome and his trusty mouse ride, which makes this feels original, but familiar.
2. We LOVE walking wilds with free re-spins
If we had to do a list of one of our favourite slot game bonus feature of all time, walking wilds would be it.

Each time it walks down on reel, you get a free re-spin of the reels. So one wild on reel 5 could give you 5 free spins.
Get more then one wild on screen, and you could just keep going.
If you’ve never experienced walking wilds before, you need to go play Jack and The Beanstalk by NetEnt like… Right now.
3. And you have multipliers and free-spin bonus games
You could probably have given us those wandering wilds and be happy, but this Gnome Wood slot machine seems to have a couple of extra tricks up it’s sleeve.
The first is the fact that those wilds can come with multipliers.
The second is that you can also get 10 free spins, where (if the video is correct, which isn’t always the case) seems like the walking wilds come more often.
Don’t quote us on that, but it’s certainly promising.

Where it could all go wrong
We like to think that, overall, we are positive people. We like to see the best in things, and generally try to reserve judgements until we get the finished product in our hands.
But there are some warning signs that might indicate that not everything is bright and cheery in this Gnome Wood slot game.

There are ALOT of symbols on the reels
This isn’t always a bad thing, especially as this Rabcat game has 25 paylines.
Yes you can play Castle Builders II, Gnome Wood, and everything else you can imagine.
But generally, the harder hitting games tend to be the ones that have fewer symbols or fewer paylines, or both.
Look at NextGen’s Justice League slot which only has 7 symbols.
Even if we look at a more standard 5×3 25 payline slot, like say, Yggdrasil’s Vikings Go Wild – that only has 8 symbols.
Gnome Wood boasts 10 symbols, and that’s not including the wild, the wild multiplier, or the scatter.
Will the Gnome Wood mobile slot just be more of the same?
There could be more symbols to compensate for all the wilds you are going to get on screen, allowing you to create multiple wins with mutliple symbols.
That could happen.
Or it could be back to Rabcat’s old trick of making a pretty slot, but without much substance: ie. the wins will be minimal at best.
Let’s hope for the first hey?
Gnome Wood slot is exclusive to Microgaming casinos
The good news is that when it comes to it, you’ll find this game on pretty much every single Microgaming casino around the world.
Meaning if you are curious enough about it, finding it won’t be a problem.
Out on the first week of September 2017
You don’t even have to wait that long – couple of weeks and we will all be able to see whether Rabcat have turned a corner and become the new software to watch.
Otherwise we’ll just have to go back to playing on Castle Builders II until they get their act together.
Which you can do over at the mobile Leo Vegas casino where you get a 200% first deposit bonus and 20 free spins to spend on a selection of slots, no deposit needed.
