Back in 2014 Microgaming signed a deal with Universal movies to develop a Jurassic Park slot, no doubt as part of Universal’s campaign to get us excited about dinosaurs again.
The August 2014 slot release was a huge success, and by far Microgaming’s best release of that year (we wrote a little Jurassic Park slot preview ourselves).
Fast forward a year later, and the Jurassic World film became the surprise hit of 2015, which smashed all box office records. No one expected it, but apparently we simply weren’t done with those dinos.
Will the Jurassic World slot be truly epic?
Honestly, at this stage, that would be as good as guessing about how epic the Jurassic World 2 movie might be. It’s just too early to tell.

But with the sequel not due till 2018, our appetite for the Indominus Rex might be calmed a little with this new Microgaming slot game, which should tie in beautifully with the original movie.
If there’s one thing that Microgaming is good at, it’s creating movie slots.
You will get movie clips on big wins
A pretty standard features, this is something that this software provider love putting in their online slots; from The Dark Knight Rises to the Bridesmaids game.
Basically, whenever a 5 of a kind symbol win on a character strikes, you’ll get a little clip of the movie play on your screen, making you feel like you’re in the film.
We suspect both Owen (the good guy) and Claire (the annoying aunt) will make an appearance, as well as Masrani (the new owner), Hoskins (the bad military guy), and the 2 nephews.
If you have no idea who we are talking about, here’s a quick reminder.
Makes you remember how exciting it was to watch this again, doesn’t it?
What about any interesting features?
If we had to take our best guess, we suspect this will be one bonus heavy slot. The first Jurassic slot is jam packed full of them, with 5 free spin options and so many different wilds, it was hard to count.
But that’s pure guess. What would be more of an educated guess is that it will be a medium variance slot.
Because all their movie and TV games are. It makes sense; it appeals to the widest range of players. You get a well balanced machine that gives you fairly consistent wins and, every once in a while, a prehistoric size win.
If it isn’t, we will literally eat our a shark shaped hat and pretend to be a giant Mosasaurs.
Will it just be a copy of Jurassic Park?
We hope not; reason being it would make the Jurassic World slot a lot less interesting, and that slot was so graphically intense (it moved you through the jungle, and a live T-Rex pop up behind the reels), that it wasn’t mobile.
- Game of Thrones
- Thunderstruck II
- Isis
- Fish Party
- Mega Moolah
We hope, with all our hearts, that Microgaming won’t make the same mistake again, and realise that these days n age, you need to allow players to play on your new online slot machines via all devices, be it desktop, Android or iPhone.
But what made Jurassic World film great was the fact it was kind of… a copy
Ok. You could argue, technically, that Jurassic World stole the premise from Jurassic Park and just gave it more dinosaurs.
After all, weren’t both movies just about people messing with science in ways that science shouldn’t be messed with, and paying for their mistake by having a rampage of dinosaurs kill lots of people in the park?
So wouldn’t it make sense for Microgaming to edge their bets and say ‘Hey, our first slot was a huge success, lets’ just change the characters and create Jurassic World’?
After all, as we all know, they are not above simply re-theming game mechanics that have proven popular with players.
But that simply won’t happen with the Jurassic World slot game
Sure. Microgaming have been lazy at times, and simply released the same slot but with 2 or 3 different themes (So Much Candy is no different to the So Much Sushi slot for example), but not with their big blockbuster games.

For one, they have to keep Universal happy, which means creating something beautiful, and something truly unique.
For two, it’s never happened with any of their other blockbuster games. The Tomb Raider slot is a very different beast from their Tomb Raider 2 machine for example.
For three, even Microgaming won’t be that stupid.
So when can we expect this new Microgaming game?
Our best guess? Summer 2016.
Hey, we don’t have a crystal ball, and no Microgaming aren’t telling. In fact all we really know for sure is that it’s happening, and it’s happening this year.
But historically, this slots software likes to push their big releases over the summer. Last year it was Bridesmaids, the year before it was Terminator 2 and Jurassic Park… Summer blockbuster slots just fit in nicely with the summer season.
Go figure hey?
But what should I play meanwhile?
You can play Jurassic Park video slot, because it’s awesome, absolutely stunning… but it’s not mobile friendly.
So if you are reading this on your phone or tablet, and want something truly great, the Game of Thrones slot is wicked fun; though not particularly graphically beautiful.
But where is the best place to find both? Well, if you’re a Microgaming fan through and through, Go Wild Casino gives you an exclusive 30 free spins on Avalon no deposit needed + 230% up to $€300 on your first deposit.
However, should you like the play on a selection of software, we can’t recommend Casumo Casino enough. They’ve got a brilliant selection and €£1,200 bonus over 5 deposits, as well as 200 free spins on offer.
