It’s been a little while since we’ve had an original Play’n GO slot. The last release the Samba Carnival slot, whilst fun, was simply a copy of Lady of Fortune.
They are not the first game studio, nor the last, to create copies of their most popular slot machines.
But an original Play’n GO creation, on the other hand, is always exciting. Especially one which promises to follow winning game mechanics, but with more… everything.
More wins, more features, more slots within slots, more… more.
Yet, we have to ask: is more always better?
A high fantasy grid slot thats pays all ways
Before we start describing the theme, have a quick look at the set up of the five reels and the characters on display.
Pretty cool hey? Clearly inspired by Final Fantasy / Kingdom of Hearts graphics, where spiky haired warriors fight mighty beasts that are half-armoured, half-wild, beautiful assassin wears less than practical outfits, and mysterious wizards barely resemble human form.
Play for longer on Play’n GO slots at Leo Vegas Casino with 4 deposit bonuses + 200 free spins.
If you’ve never owned a video game (and have no idea what we are talking about), then imagine a grown up version of Pokemon, but set in an alien cloud city.
And if that doesn’t ring a bell… well, we’ve run out of topical comparisons, so just look at the pretty picture and put this down somewhere in the sci-fi/fantasy genre.
It’s beautiful, is what we are trying to say in our own long-winded way. But then, we’re fans of this type of style.
What on earth is a grid slot?
That question tells us you haven’t played on Play n GO slot machines, otherwise you’ll automatically recognise these 5×5 grids.
It’s one of their most popular mechanics, and way back when the studio was only just starting out, it was this type of game that made them stand out from the pack.
It all started out with the Energoonz slot in 2013; where they introduced the idea of ‘all ways pays’. Connect three or more matching symbols along any diagonal, horizontal or vertical line anywhere in the grid, and you win.
These symbols then disappeared, allowing further wins to be created – clear enough of the board and you can win free spins or cash prizes.
It was such a popular concept with players, Play’n GO released the Golden Ticket slot a year later, which worked much the same way.
But that wasn’t enough… enter Gemix, stage left
The Gemix slot is by far, the most popular Play’n GO video slot worldwide. It’s a little syrupy for our taste, but even we’ve found ourselves spinning for far longer than we’d expected on this little candy game.
- Royal Masquerade
- Golden Ticket
- Wild Blood
- Eye of the Kraken
- Tower Quest
- Enchanted Crystals
Namely it’s because they introduce the idea of travelling through world; on each world you get different wilds.
Add very unique ways to trigger bonus features; you charge a meter every time you get a win, and it just kept you hooked.
We would have forgiven Play’n GO for making the Cloud Quest video slot a copy of Gemix.
After all, why not build on a success story?
Instead, it sounds like a mixture of all three of their past grid games… but on steroids. Big fat Japanese steroids.
Stats and Figures about the Cloud Quest mobile slot
We got given a lot of information about this upcoming game. Trying to figure how it will all work together is another story.
- 5×5 grid where all ways pay
- Win up to 2,500 times your bet
- Clear the symbol row covering ‘bonus’ and you’ll trigger up to 20 free spins
- You play the free spins on a classic 3 reel slot, where you need to defeat monsters for massive wins.
- You can level up your gameplay
- You can trigger one of 4 super powers on any spins, each is a free re-spin with special bonus features adding either more wilds, more scatter wins, or bigger multipliers.
- Min/max bet: 0.10 / 100
- Mid variance slot machine
Yeah, we know, that’s a lot of information, and we haven’t even gotten into what ‘levelling up’ will mean, what the bonus features are, or how to defeat monsters in the free spins.
- 20 Free spins no deposit on Gonzo’s Quest
- 100% up to £€$200 instead of £€$100
That sounds… chaotic?
Maybe. Though if there’s one thing that Play’n GO have proven in the past is not to underestimate them when they create unique games.
Remember when we were all cynical with their ‘win spin’ concept, where you’re guaranteed a spin on every free spins round in the Pimped mobile slot? And we predicted (wrongly) it would mean getting tiny wins at best?
They have proven that the grid slots worked. And it technically has no more bonus features than Gemix, just seems complicated when you write it out.
And as for the ‘levels’, it’s all the rage at the moment isn’t it? Gemix gave you different worlds, Nordic Heroes opened up characters and bigger wins.
We’re hoping to get more of the latter, of course, but only time will tell if levelling up will produce anything more than a change of scenery.
Why we are excited about this 10th of March release
What can we say? We have a soft spot for Play’n GO; in the last year alone they released two of our favourite games, the very dangerous Royal Masquerade slot and the easy playing Eye of the Kraken.
We were always going to be excited by a unique release, especially one that looks like something out of our favourite video games.
Add a crazy amount of bonus features, and what looks like a pretty unique free spin feature, and we were in faster than you can say “Sephiroth“.
The good news is that you won’t need to hunt down this casino slot when it’s released; all the best mobile casinos will have it come March 10th.
Where should you play you ask? Personally, we’d go to Casumo Casino at the moment, which recently added Play’n GO and give you £€1,200 in bonus over 5 deposits to get you started.
