This is going to be a hard slot preview to write – namely because Microgaming’s description of this Reel Spinner slot isn’t what you’d call exciting.
But, we decided not to jump to conclusions straight away, and had a look at the video available of the game play.
And we have to say, there are some redeeming qualities to what, at first, looked like a fairly generic Microgaming online slot.
So we decided to have a more in-depth look and see if we can let all the ‘excitement’ of deep sea fishing take us over.
Or, more likely, will we simply be looking forward to the July release of Thunderkick’s Zoom slot?
The Reel Spinner slot video preview
This is a 1:10 video. If you are reading this at work and can’t watch it, don’t worry, we’ll go through it all afterwards.
Can you feel the fresh air on your face as your boat races to uncharted waters? Feel the thrill as you get the biggest catch of your life?

Yeah, we’re not sold on the theme either
Look, it’s not like we can’t appreciate a good looking fishing slot. In fact this Reel Spinner game reminded us a lot of Microgaming’s Alaskan Fishing slot, which has very similar graphics.
You know the ones; that hand drawn, but almost realistic look?
It’s one Microgaming favour a lot, usually, to be honest, when they’ve run out of good ideas.
In fact, considering this is a totally new slot machine, it kinda looks like something Microgaming came out with 5 years ago.
The symbols are nothing special, and the deep ocean background isn’t half as pretty as something like in the Ariana slot.
A generic Summer theme for a generic Summer slot?
That’s our main fear when we first saw this 15 payline slot machine.
Sure, deep sea fishing must have a certain appeal to some slots gamblers out there, but most of us pick our fish on Aisle 9 at the superstore.
That said, Microgaming have over 2,000 online slots to date, releasing close to 300 games a year – that’s a lot of themes to have to come up with.
From old timey movies in the Golden Era slot, to reimagining old fashion rhymes in the Rhyming Reels; Georgie Porgie slot.
To be honest, we’re surprised deep sea fishing didn’t come up as a theme sooner.
What about the Reel Spinner slot features?
Love, hate, or as indifferent as you might be to theme, ultimately we’ve all played on games with themes that might not be our very favourite because the mechanics were awesome.
So will this Reel Spinner online slot become a bit more interesting once we see the features?

Do you know what wonderful and interesting things we’ve noticed there?
Nothing.
We’ve seem these types of bonus games before
It’s not that it’s going to be bad, it’s just that much like it’s generic theme, this has a very generic “we’ve seen it before in a hundred Microgaming slots” game play.
The bonus game do look like they could be fun, but we suspect that the chances of catching 20 free spins with a 5x multiplier is as likely as getting 5 scatters on screen.
It will probably be more like 5 or 10 free spins, with 2x or 3x multiplier.
Just enough to give you, maybe, 20 to 30 times your bet wins, and keep you playing, not quite enough to make you want to cash out.
So are we suppose to get excited?
Honestly? No.
- Thunderstruck II
- Game of Thrones
- Mega Moolah
- Summertime
- Pretty Kitty
June’s release of the Pretty Kitty slot was far more interesting, and one we’ll be playing for longer than this Reel Spinner game.
Hey, we could be wrong. We’ve been wrong before.
We are basing this on information given to us by a quick video, and a quiet chat with Microgaming.
It’s not definitive. Maybe we’ll fall hook, line and sinker, and head for the deep blue come July 6th.
But just in case that doesn’t happen, here’s some Microgaming casinos that are offering some brilliant games and casino promotions, to keep you entertained whether you decide to put on your sailor hat.
