Undead, Zombies, and Ghost slots
These Undead slot machines will rise again and again every Halloween to give you the heeby-jeebies, but which one will pay out the most and which are the best? Here’s our full list below.
Full disclosure: you will not find a single Vampire slot or Werewolf game in the list of games below. We have specific categories for those because they are popular enough to deserve them.
Instead, we are looking for slots with ghosts, ghouls, revenants, zombies, re-animated corpses and whatever else you want to call those that died but returned to the land of the living.
And whilst many will save these to play during Halloween, you can enjoy these wonderful supernatural slot games any day of the year… especially when it’s late at night, and you need a thrilling chill.
That said, very few of these are actually that scary. If we are honest, slot game providers prefer to keep things light and fun simply because it means they will find a wider audience.
We take a look at the best of the best within the different categories of the Undead mobile slot genre.
What are the best Zombie slots for mobile?
When you think ‘undead’, what’s the first thought that pops to mind? Zombies, of course.
From the Night Of The Living Dead to the Walking Dead, Zombies have been part of our culture for decades.
So much so that they’ve lost some of their horror appeal and now the whole family can find a game or TV show they can all enjoy together as these ghouls come for your brains.
Don’t believe us? Watch Hotel Transylvania one of these days, or maybe the Plants Vs Zombies app.
The point is, Zombies are probably the scariest and worst horror villains in the history of monster stories, mostly because they usually are slow and brainless, but there are just so many of them.
Plus, being eaten alive has to give you a few horror points for pure gruesomeness and fear factor.
What makes a good Zombie mobile slot?
By our standards, the Zombie has to be the star of the show. So if it’s just part of a monster mash-up, we don’t think it deserves its name as a full Zombie game.
It also has to have fun mechanics because the theme is only part of the appeal of a slot machine. The number one priority is how it plays and how much you can win.
Based on these assumptions, we can safely say that our top choices are:
- Machine Gun Unicorn slot: The little ponies and the unicorn may be the title characters, but the Zombie exploding heads in jars are definitely the symbols you’ll be looking for to catch crazy fun wins.
- Lost Vegas slot: You can play either as the survivors or the zombies in this apocalyptic Vegas that sees an Undead Elvis give you Zombie Fists of Cash.
- Plants Vs Zombies Gargantuar slot: Keeping it light and fun, this 20 payline slot has 3 Click Me Bonus, Extra Wilds and Free Spins.
Another one to check out is the Golden Colt, although it couldn’t make it on the list because whilst it has a Zombie Sheriff, it’s more a spooky western slot than a proper Undead mobile game.
There are many El Dia De Los Muerto slots
We hope the Mexicans will forgive us for putting one of their best holidays in our Undead section, but you have to admit… it fits.
Celebrating our ancestors, giving them one special day when they can walk the earth to see us again, the masks, the colours, the skeletons…
It all makes for a fantastic theme, and you’ll usually find more skeleton slots around this theme than any other. After all, this is a day celebrating the dead. They may not come back to life (per se), but in these games and the legends, they kinda do.
There’s a reason why there are so many Day of the Dead slot games. The music gives the game a festive air that automatically makes you smile, and the colours lend themselves well to be played on at online mobile casinos where screen size is limited.
Anything that helps differentiate between the symbols is good for slot gamblers. Because, let’s be honest, with horror slots, you usually end up with lots of greys, blacks and reds.
Well, definitely not in this category.
Give me the best Day of the Dead online slots:
It helps that El Dia De Muertos is usually celebrated close to Halloween – moving from the 31st of October to the 1st or 2nd of November.
So, of course, these games usually fall within the category of spooky slot machines, but in honesty, they (at best) are second cousins twice removed. One is dark and full of fantastical creatures, and the other is beautiful and revered for the past.
In keeping with the holiday itself, most of these casino games will bring you joy and smiles far more than bumps and chills.
But if there’s no actual skeleton or dead person on the reels, then it doesn’t qualify. So here are the ones we think stand out from the pack:
- Esqueleto Explosivo by Thunderkick: by far one of the best Thunderkick slots, this has lively music, rolling heads and massive multipliers.
- Grim Muerto by Play’n GO: The re-spins are the real heroes of this 20 payline slot and even more so when you hit the free spins.
- Esqueleto Mariachi by Red Tiger: The three Undead musicians can pop in at any time, giving you extra wilds, blowing away symbols or just dropping wilds everywhere. It’s fun. Check it out.
Microgaming studios have also created the fun Beautiful Bones slot that truly celebrates all that the Day of the Dead is about. Still, it’s far more accurate to the celebration and has a lot fewer skeletons.
In short, it didn’t quite make the cut.
What are the best Ghosts and Spooks slots?
If Zombies are by far the most popular of the Undead-themed phone slots, the ghosts, poltergeists and wraiths have to be the next most common theme.
The problem is that most of these revenants don’t tend to be the star of the show but are generally in the mix of other Monster slot games.
Much like the brain-eating ghouls, Ghost slots don’t have to be all that scary to make a good Halloween gambling game. Mostly they can just be friendly, happy, or just darn adorable.
That said, a few that come to mind that stand out from the howls and the shrieks and, given a little persuading, can show you where they’ve hidden their gold.
Spooktacular supernatural ghost games:
Two of the three top Ghosts slots below are based on films, which is unsurprising. Short of putting a sheet over their heads, you need a little mythology behind the story to make an undead wraith or banshee truly scary.
Still, we’d happily play these slot games all year round, especially our number one choice, which is a truly chilling affair.
- Paranormal Activity slot: These mobile games aren’t supposed to be scary, but holy crap, will this make you jump. Not for the faint of heart, but this demon god has plenty to give if you are willing to make a little sacrifice…
- Ghost Pirates by NetEnt: One of the older Net Entertainment games, this 243 ways to win ghost slot machine has everything you need, from wilds to multipliers to free spins.
- Ghostbusters Triple Slime: Who you gonna call? IGT! Because they’ve created a game where all your favourite characters are overdue a slime. Catch those ghosts, and we promise that there are huge rewards.
Have you had your fill of Paranormal slot games? Did you find what you are looking for?
Our list of themed slot reviews continues to grow daily, so come back and check out new slots as they get added to our list.
You know what they say; “if you’ve got it, haunt it”, and most of these slots are certainly unBOOlievable enough to haunt your casino playtime.
Enjoy!
