WMS Slots: The Best Ones for Mobile
Let’s start with the question everyone asks us as soon as we start doing new mobile slot reviews. That being; if we could only pick three WMS games to play which would we pick?
Now the problem here is that the selection isn’t huge… yet. But it’s getting bigger. Still, if we had to pick a favourite online or mobile, it would have to be the Raging Rhino slot.
Not only does it look great on the smaller screen, but it comes with some impressive multipliers that we love. A close second would be Zeus 3 with 192 paylines.
About Williams Interactive
Part of the reason they are so big, is they’ve been around for such a long time, changing and evolving with the decades.
WMS started their life as the king of pinball in 1943, inventing the famous ’tilt’ technology that reached the pinnacle of their popularities somewhere in the late 80s.
And where did they turn to next? Keeping the spirit of gaming alive, they headed for the only machines left in the entertainment floor, which were slots machines. And grand slot machines. Some casinos in Vegas devote over half the casino floor to WMS slot games.
The birth of WMS Slots
But it wasn’t till 2000’s that Williams Interactive was born, moving their more popular land-based machines to your desktop.
By and large, they succeeded, but they still remain more popular with off-line gamblers who sometimes play online, rather than online slot players who are use to the razzle dazzle of NetEnt slots or Microgaming casino games.
And then they started to ramp up their games and brought out the likes of their Star Trek series of machines and the wonderful Wizard of Oz game.
Now those are some beauties.
The carefully picked mobile slot games collection
And when we say ‘carefully, we mean the handful of casino games currently available.
No there isn’t as much choice as with their online portfolio. But then, which slot software provider can say otherwise? And don’t say Play’n Go, those guys were on your smartphones first.
So yeah, the mobile WMS slots collection for Android, iPhone and iPads is a work in progress. But one we are always happy to review each and every time we get a chance. Here’s why.
Always Unique, Never Boring
The thing about trying to typecast WMS slot machines is that there’s too many out there to do a decent job of it.
As soon we say something like ‘most of their machines are high variance’ someone else will be able to find a dozen examples of the opposite.
They create so many variations of this simple spinning game, you’d think they were out trying to re-invent the wheel. Which they kinda do at times.
Multiple reels, multiple games, multiple set up
If we take the ‘classic’ style online video slot to be 5×3 reels, with anything from 5 paylines to 243 ways to wins… WMS very rarely fall within this ‘classic’ category.
Let’s give them 6 reels! With the reels increasing in symbols! And 192 paylines!
Or even better, let’s give them two games in one, with one reel having a 5×4 set up and the second a 5 by an amazing 12 symbols high set! (ie. The Spartacus slot machine).
Big, big, big, more, more, more!
If you open a machine and wonder how these varying reels work, chances are you’ve stumbled on a Williams Interactive slot game.
Can make things difficult on the small screen
Of course, when you are trying to fit 10 reels, half of which are 12 symbols high, you can imagine that things get difficult on the smaller iPhone and Android phone screens.
Which is why fans of WMS may be surprised by some of our reviews, when they find that their favourite slot machine does not rank higher in our eyes.
Chances are, the reason for this is simple playability. If we can’t see what’s happening on screen, or catch the excitement of the wins, then that game has no reason to be on your phone.
Better an average WMS video slot…
… than an average anything else.
Even if they don’t all work on phone, they mostly work as tablet or iPad slots. In fact, they shine and sparkle with excitement, as they would if you were in Vegas itself.
Like we said, they may not get a hit every time, but at least you won’t be bored trying out WMS slots and figuring out the best way to get those big wins.
